You may recognize this young lady: You've watched her grow up! (Be sure to scroll down.) She never ceases to amaze us with her smarts and delight us with her spirit. Stay tuned for this year's photos.... - LN
Sometimes life feels really tough, especially for moms with young children. But imagine being a young mom and discovering you have breast cancer, or even worse, being pregnant, raising young children, and learning you have breast cancer.
Enter the Evanston-based Karen Dove Cabral Foundation, a one-of-a-kind resource for young mothers battling breast cancer while managing the same challenges we all face in raising children. Unlike other organizations that are dedicated to raising money to combat breast cancer, the Karen Dove Cabral Foundation is unique in its focus on improving the quality of life for young mothers fighting breast cancer, and providing vital assistance by paying for critical treatments and services not covered by insurance.
Please join Soben Studios in supporting this fantastic organization.
On Friday, October 18th, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Equinox, 799 Central Avenue, Highland Park, come enjoy a fun and memorable evening with food, drinks, a silent auction, and a yoga practice for all levels benefiting the Karen Dove Cabral Foundation.
$25 donation is suggested. ALL money goes directly to the Karen Dove Cabral Foundation.
You may recognize this gorgeous girl. We've been photographing her since birth. Not only is she one of our most stunning subjects -- can you say "eyelashes"?! -- she has a truly joyful spirit. M, we had the best time laughing with you! -- LN
Do these sisters really get along this well? Makes me really wish I had a sister. Mom pulled off a great surprise for Dad's new office: a photo session and a wall gallery! What a priceless gift -- it makes every day Father's Day. - LN
One of the best parts of our job is watching the little ones grow. (Funny how they're getting older, but we aren't.)
Baby D, we knew you when you were in Mommy's belly, and even then, K, we knew what an AWESOME big sister you'd be. It is always a delight to see you! - LN
Two girls very special to us! We can't look at your images without smiling, P & B. Sisters are best friends with silly private jokes that only you two understand. Your fun-loving spirit is infectious. - LN
Well, it only took me 7 months to blog about our new studio! We've just been so busy taking care of our clients, that things like our new studio space took a back seat. However, I am so excited to share our new digs with you -- the space is just lovely and I can't wait to see many of you there! Our new studio is located in downtown Highwood, directly above a nail salon (how perfect is that!?). We've got tons of shooting space, with a great brick wall to enjoy. By far my favorite feature is our bay window, and it has been so much fun experimenting with the lighting there. The window is fabulous for newborn work, but it really shines with maternity silhouettes.
We've always got fresh coffee and tea waiting for you, great books, and our free wifi. Come see us soon!
It's just about winter, but it feels like fall today!! This was one of our favorite fall sessions. From blossoming belly shots, to nestled newborn images, to baby busy-ness (and big sis silliness), to family fun in the outdoors, M family, your sessions are always blast. K & D, we can't believe how big you're getting! - LN
We are all feeling blue after indulging in too much candy .... hoping the image below is a much better version of feeling blue. Happy November!
We have been so busy here ... and you know what that means - the blog gets neglected. Stay tuned for great information about our mini sessions and our newly built studio!!! But in the meantime, I'd love to share this adorable baby with you. So full of smiles we really did not want this little bundle to leave our studio!!
In the spirit of the Independence Day holiday, Soben Studios wants to give a giant pat on the back to all those devoted parents who seek to nurture their children's independence -- only to find themselves gritting their teeth and cursing in exasperation their toddlers' "Me do!", "No!" independent spirit. Just one more of those parenting challenges that you thought you understood until you actually lived it. If it's any consolation, we've all been there... and we're used to dealing with strong, independent kids. That's why you turn to us for your family photographs.
If you're looking for a family friendly Independence Day celebration, come visit Deerfield. From a pancake breakfast, to a petting zoo, ponies and kiddie rides, and a small-town parade, Deerfield is a great place to enjoy the day. We'll be at the parade, which begins at noon, so come say "hi." The studio, 829 Waukegan Road, is on the parade route, and we'll be stationed there with freebies for the kids. (Quantities are limited.)
Have a Happy and Safe Fourth of July! Hope to see you. -LN
I know, it has been forever since we posted! We moved the studio last week, and we are still in the process of settling in. Nonetheless, I wanted to share a recent session with you - which was a total blast. This family was all active and all fun - truly enjoyed our nature walks!!!
Some friends are clients, and some clients become friends. I've had the good fortune of photographing this family for four years - and I am excited to see them every time we meet.
I get so lucky. I just seem to have the best bookings with the happiest families - and this next one is no exception. We had a great time together. Sure, I could show you all of the "everyone look and smile at the camera" type shots - which yes, we captured. However, isn't it more fun to see their personality, and the joy that they share together? I think so, too.
Do you have the same fond memories of camp that I do? I think back and I long for those carefree, action-packed days when swimming in the lake seemed like a reasonable substitute for a shower; when you got that first taste of freedom from parental watch; when you were so excited to be able to get-up on waterskis for the first time, or; when you learned how to rig a sailboat. Did you have your first kiss at overnight camp? Was it your first time on horseback? My oldest son is going away to overnight camp this summer (when did he get that old?!), and I miss him just thinking about it! But at the same time, I am SO excited for him! He's going to have so many new experiences (probably homesickness will be among them), and summer camp is going to enrich his life in so many ways.
I am fortunate to be able to send my children to camp, but I am well aware that many parents can only dream of offering their children a camp experience. No doubt, some parents may not even recognize that far-reaching benefits camp offers children. This is where SCOPE comes in. SCOPE (Summer Camp Opportunities Provide an Edge) is a 19-year-old non-profit organization dedicated to the belieftethat every child, regardless of their socio-economic background deserves the benefits of a summer camp experience.
SCOPE-Midwest will be hosting it's annual fundraising benefit on Friday, April 16th at 7:30 p.m. at Chicago's Sheraton Hotel & Towers. Tickets are still available for this event which will feature, cocktails, dinner, dancing, casino games and a silent auction (with Soben Items!!) .
Please join me in supporting SCOPE-Midwest. Together, we can help underserved and deserving children have the oportunity to escape the struggles they face at home and discover the joy of camp -- a place to feel safe, play, learn, laugh and grow.
Dear blog readers and Soben family - Thank you so much for an amazing year. I am always so humbled, and honored, to be a part of your lives. Our clients feel like dear friends, and I cherish every opportunity to watch your children grow. May your holidays be full of fun, food, and family -- and may your new year be blessed in every way.
We had a great time working with this mom and daughter-- so glad we spent the morning together. And would you believe ... she is as NICE as she is BEAUTIFUL.
I have had the pleasure of photographing this family at least once a year for the last few years. I always look forward to our sessions, and see how the girls have grown. Aren't they beautiful?
It was so much fun to spend a Saturday morning in the park with you guys --- enjoy your sneak peak!
