Laurie & Jenn
Owner & Photographer
My name is Laurie, and I am addicted to baby toes. I think that is why I have five children of my own (Yes, five. If you think my hands are full, you should see my heart!). I love strong coffee, great books, camping with my family and kayaking on the water. I laugh easily and often, and I cry at commercials. My forbidden pleasures include anything Etsy, and anything chocolate. I play the guitar, usually with little hands helping me strum. I'll sing, too ... but only if you'll join me or promise not to listen. I am always happiest when surrounded by children (yours and mine). I believe the right picture can make us fall in love all over again.
I am not a traditional photographer, though I am trained traditionally and professionally. I've worked in the corporate world, and still do sometimes ... but, I like the world in my studio best. Because the studio is a place of magic, where we still believe in fairy tales.
As the studio director, I spend a lot of my time communicating with our clients. I love meeting new families and welcoming them into the Soben family. It excites me when I receive that phone call or email from a previous client who wishes to book their next portrait session - I love catching up on what is new and exciting for their family (like a second, third or fourth baby on the way:). Reason #1001 why I love my job!
I have two daughters just under 15 months apart. They are in elementary and middle school now so that age difference does not make a “big difference” any more. I miss my girls being “little” so working with babies and children is such a treat!
I assist you from start to finish and guide you in any way I can - from what to wear to how to prepare. I feel fortunate to use my art/design and communication degrees in my job - where I can incorporate my passions. I truly enjoy designing wall galleries, albums and collages that your family will treasure for a lifetime.
Some things I appreciate…a good sense of humor, a game of tennis, live music, handmade gifts, Starbucks chai tea lattes, belly laughing with my family and anyone and everyone who cheers for the Packers (once a Cheesehead always a Cheesehead:).
